Tori Amos is definitely on another spiritual and mental plane than most of us, on a different level of consciousness. In interviews, most people falter because she tends to go off on a subject, she goes somewhere unknown to most, they don’t know what to make of her. They just nod their heads and move on the next question that may seem simple, but eventually gets twisted and deep before they even know it.
In a rare occasion, this interviewer does a good job of not only staying on task, but understanding her while letting her imagination take over. His hypothetical questions get honest and funny. Let Tori charm you while she talks about cannibalism.
In this clip, she gets outspoken and a bit pissed off about Britney Spears’ “Toxic”. She interprets the song her own way and finds it appalling. Mind you there is a tad bit of swearing so NSFW but hilariously passionate.
She is my favorite artist to watch in interviews, her stories are unusual and funny, but she is also extremely smart. She once said in an interview, “You need to learn to take the wisdom from the wound.” I try to live by that idea every day.
