I went to the new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex in NYC this week, totally recommended! The tickets were $24, but in my opinion was well worth the money. The first thing you will experience is a room with the walls covered in the signature of inductees. They light up when their songs are played and is a fun experience to find your favorites. Next is a short movie about the history of Rock and Roll. Before the movie starts, look on the side walls for a shot of a wall at CBGB’s, you’ll see a bright yellow Planeside sticker clear as day! I played scavenger hunt through the CBGB’s display inside for more stickers, and found 3 more! My friends made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…kind of, haha.

You are given a wireless headset to wear throughout the entire museum that acts like a soundtrack. As you walk through, the music changes to accompany the exhibit you are at. My favorit items on display are the handwritten lyrics of some of the most famous songs ever. Enjoy seeing authentic memorabilia from great artists such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and of course, The King.

Currently, a John Lennon exhibit is going on featuring rare photos, memorabilia, film footage and art work from his time in New York. This exhibit was created by Yoko Ono and serves as a tribute, not only to his music and influence but to his political and social impact. Its hard not to be moved by some of the items on display and personal film footage. There is a wall with white paper and sharpie markers encouraging you to write a note about gun control and John’s message of peace. At the end of the exhibit, it will be sent to President Obama.
Everything in the Annex was exciting to see and is an interesting display of Rock and Roll through the decades. A highly recommended stop on your NYC visit and I’m glad that I got a chance to see the John Lennon exhibit specifically.
