Today Holly and I made a spontaneous decision to go into the city and check out the set of Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson, out of boredom and maybe a catch a glimpse – ok, well, that was the main reason.
Although I figured we would, if anything, just catch a tiny look-see of him from far away I didn’t understand why everything was so secretive and rushed. He basically ran from his trailer hidden by umbrellas into the building. Here we were sitting 50 feet away, quietly in Washington Square Park, not screaming or crying, just watching. But after I heard about the mob scene that happened yesterday, I totally get it!
He was basically chased by a group of girls who grabbed at him, hugged him, pleaded with him. He must have been totally freaked out! From what I can tell, he seems to be a really down to earth guy who doesn’t really understand his fame and can’t deal with being screamed and grabbed at. I don’t blame him, I feel bad for him – he’s just a guy, ladies!

I used to say that being annoyed by fans for an autograph and dealing with the paparazzi was just something you had to deal with if you are a celebrity. You are making good money to do the thing that you love. But this is a whole other level, personal safety comes into play. The guy can’t go anywhere, can’t do anything without being mobbed by crazy 15 year old fans who think he’s actually Edward from Twilight. He’s trapped! And those crazed fans make it impossible for all the rest of us who just want to say, “Hi Robert!”
It was neat, however, to see all the production work, the extras and whatnot, its a treat to witness movies being made. Rob, if you are bored and want some company, I’d love to pick your brain about music and movies anytime. I’m just short train ride away, and I promise not to grab you or scream at you, promise! Celebrities are people too.
