After working an internship at a big Connecticut bank in high school, I vowed never to 1. work in a office cubicle again and 2. never work at a bank again. But here I am….working at a bank. No cubicle thankfully. For someone like me who’s creative energies are surging at all cylinders at all time, the thought of working for such a stiff company kind of scared me. A bank, to me, defined the most strict, straight laced and un-creative job imaginable. Being creative isn’t just about arts and crafts, (although I do to that), glue and glitter, (although I do love them), or creative writing, (which I also do), but it also includes creative THINKING.
My greatest skill is my creativity. What could I offer this bank? How could I use my skill? What does this bank need? Social Media. Being an avid social media user and having worked on and for multiple websites, I could offer this bank evolution – propel them into the new media trends to help generate buzz and, hopefully, business. Oh, and I also got to make poster boards for my presentations – glue involved, but I left out the glitter.

As you can imagine, the bank has a series of rules and regulations, policies and procedures, compliance and federal guidelines to adhere by. Currently we are navigating our way through them, trying to find a place for Twitter and Facebook.
But you are now reading the blog of the Social Media Manager of a small Fairfield community bank.
